Muse

1. classical mythology
     a. any goddess residing over a particular art.
     b. the goddess or the power regarded as inspiring a poet, artist, thinker or the like.

When I first walked into the space that is now The Muse, the current owner carried mostly stones and crystals.  I was enthralled by many pieces and expressed a desire to get them all (jokingly).  The owner informed me that the shop was for sale, to which I laughed and said that I had no interest in owning a store!  At home, it kept nagging at me for a week, and I decided to ask her, just out of curiousity, what her price was.  I imagined that I would buy the inventory, keep what I really wanted, and sell off what was left.  Be in business for a couple of months, just to get my money back, have some fun and walk away.  That was 8 years ago.
Through those years, and much hard work and dedication, The Muse has become a living, breathing, magical being... full of love, light and laughter.

The Magickal Muse began in 2002 as a tiny shop (260 sf) in the Renninger's Twin Markets flea market in Mt. Dora, Florida.  Under my ownership and management (Jody Williams, a.k.a. MoJo), the tiny shop thrived and grew into a small shop (390 sf), and finally achieved 'medium-size' in 2005 (780 sf).  This website came into being in 2005 also and, sadly, has never gotten the time and attention that it (and you) deserve.  The items available on the website are only about 5% of what we actually sell in the store.  So, if there is ANYTHING that you saw in the store, have seen somewhere else, or just want to know if we might carry it - please email or call and ask!

My favorite sound is that intake of breath that people do when they see something wonderful (it cannot be spelled, but it's in the family of 'oooh' and 'aaah').  We get a lot of that at The Muse, and we will miss that when you are shopping on the web, so please feel free to send comments and suggestions so we can continue to enjoy interacting with new and old friends!  And, of course, if you're ever in Mt. Dora, be sure to come in and see us -
Summer hours are: Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. (85 degrees and up)
Winter hours are: Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm (more pleasant temperatures :)

There is definitely a mystical, magical atmosphere in The Magickal Muse, and we strive to make it an enjoyable place for all who visit us.  We respect all spiritual paths and do whatever we can to meet different needs for different people.  We have also been told that we have provided inspiration to many on creative, spiritual and emotional levels - which is the life purpose of a muse.  And through all of these layers runs a stream of whimsy. 

I am blessed by my magnificent minions: 
Rowan - who is my personal Crone, and soul sister
Dark Crystal - who is wickedly crafty, and just a little twisted :)
Deni - our Shero resident recycling expert, who's super power is positive energy!
Norm - who is there on occasion for a jolt of positive energy and the heavy lifting :)
There are also several other VERY special people who lend a hand now and then.

The Muse has also been busy over the last (8+) years, bringing together a lot of couples.  Many wonderful relationships have been sparked within her walls, and several have resulted in weddings that I have been honored to officiate.
Notary services are also available at The Muse on weekends, if you need something notarized!

Everyone is encouraged to sign up to be on our mailing list to be notified of sales, specials, new items, events and classes.  Classes that are available at different times are:

You can have a group of friends in your home and organize a party around one of the classes! 
Or a tarot reading party, where party guests get a tarot reading.  Call for pricing.
We also have open full moon circles and drum circles when we are able to hold them, and we hope to have more events and classes soon.
